Accommodations will once again be the familiar surroundings of the Whistle Stop Lodge in Almond near Fontana Lake. It is 15 minutes from the Nantahala Outdoor Center\, 25 minutes from the Delayed Harvest Section of the Nantahala\, and 20 minutes from the Tuckaseegee River in Bryson City and the Tuckaseegee Fly Shop. There are many more streams within easy reach\, such as Deep Creek\, Noland Creek\, Oconaluftee River\, Cherokee Reservation trophy water\, the Tuck at Dillsboro\, Snowbird Creek\, and many more Hatchery Supported and Wild Trout streams close by. Actually\, more than you could fish in a year. \nAccommodations: \nAs always\, couples and single ladies will be getting priority on the private rooms. \nThe Whistle Stop Lodge will accommodate 12 comfortably. There are 5 private rooms with queen beds\, one private room with 2 queen beds\, and one private room with bunkbeds. Additionally there is a loft with 3 queen beds and one twin bed. \nRoom assignment will be based on the registration date. Registrations by couples or family members sharing a room may permit additional registrants. \nCost for the entire weekend is $150 for 3 nights per person which is Thursday thru Sunday. We will discuss meal options as we get closer and see how many sign ups we have. \nFor those who have not been before\, Volunteers for cooks and cleanup are always asked for\, if you do not volunteer\, you will be drafted. \nIf you are new to fly fishing or want to hone your skills on different types of water\, this is the trip and the best time to learn. \nFor more information on where to fish\, what flies to use and the current active steams\, contact the Tuckaseegee Fly Shop in Bryson City or Sylva. You can also look at on the NC Wildlife Commissions Interactive Fishing Access Map web page to see just how many places there are to fish in the area. \nSOME BASIC EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS: \nRod: \nSuggested length of 8’ to 10’ works well with 3 to 6 wt line. Leader to match rod length in 3X to 5X. Shorter leaders make casting weighted flies a little easier. Size is not cast in concrete\, so experiment with fly size and pattern. \nNeed Help? \nIf you are new to fly fishing\, or want to hone your skills on different types of water this is the trip and the best time to learn.
